The Eternal Hounour is the best service of a Jalasena Soldier. The struggle of the Indonesian people to maintain independence from the decolonial efforts of foreign nations is an inseparable part of the nation's history. The Indonesian Navy is part of this struggle with its various efforts. Various events and battles at that time occurred between the Indonesian Navy and Koninklijke Marine (KM), the Royal Dutch Navy. The peak was the Aru Sea battle which occurred on January 15 1962. In this battle, Commodore I Yosaphat Soedarso died along with the marine soldiers who were manning the KRI Matjan Tutul-606. This heroic effort saved 2 other ships belonging to STC-9. A task force was formed to carry out a cladestin mission to carry out the orders of Trikora Bung Karno (President of the Republic of Indonesia at that time). The impact of this battle led to the collapse of the determination of the Dutch Kingdom
to continue to control Papua and finally the land of Papua returned to the lap of Indonesia. January 15 itself is currently designated as Dharma Samudera Day as a reminder and to inspire the fighting spirit of all Jalasena Soldiers.
