The rapid evolution of the global, regional, and national strategic environment has influenced geopolitics and geostrategy worldwide. Over the past year, global conflicts have been driven by geopolitical disputes, competition for energy resources, an arms race, and border issues. As an archipelagic nation situated at the crossroads of major trade and communication routes, Indonesia holds a strategic advantage in defense and diplomacy.

The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) is responsible for securing the country's maritime territory, requiring advanced technology to detect and address potential threats. A national defense system must be unique and secure, supported by a robust information system to safeguard classified defense data.

In the era of globalization, information technology (IT) plays a crucial role in national resilience. While IT can strengthen defense capabilities, it also poses risks that could undermine security. The effective use of IT enables rapid analysis of maritime threats and supports precise strategic decision-making.

Indonesian Maritime Journal, Volume 11, Issue 4 (December 2023), explores the role of information technology in maritime defense, including smart defense and dual strategy approaches. This edition aims to provide valuable insights for stakeholders and maritime experts while welcoming constructive feedback to enhance future publications.

Sebagai negara kepulauan yang terletak di persimpangan rute perdagangan dan komunikasi utama, Indonesia memiliki keunggulan strategis dalam pertahanan dan diplomasi.
