Peran Lantamal VIII Manado Guna Menjaga Keamanan Laut dan Mendukung Tugas TNI AL
Abstract
Lantamal VIII Manado is part of the Integrated Fleet Weapon System (SSAT) which carries
out law enforcement at sea. The problem faced by Lantamal VIII Manado is that maritime
security patrol activities are not yet optimal in the border area due to the condition of the
defense equipment which is less and not optimal, budget support and base facilities are
limited, and the pattern of operations that is not coordinated between TNI AL bases in the

working area of Lantamal VIII Manado . The aims of this study were 1) to analyze the role of
the main TNI VIII Manado naval base in maintaining maritime security and to support the tasks
of the Indonesian Navy, 2) to analyze the constraints of Lantamal VIII Manado in implementing
opskamla 3) to formulate a strategy to overcome the obstacles of Lantamal VIII Manado in
carrying out opskamla, 4) Formulate efforts to support the implementation of strategies to
overcome obstacles Lantamal VIII Manado in carrying out opskamla. Descriptive qualitative
research method with collection methods using various techniques, such as interviews,
participatory observation, direct observation, and document analysis. Research results 1) The
role of the Main Naval Base VIII is responsible for maintaining security in the region; law
enforcement; support the duties of the Indonesian Navy in military operations in the maritime
area; building regional cooperation with neighboring countries; 2) Obstacles faced by
Lantamal VIII, such as conditions and defense equipment that are not yet optimal, limited
budget and base, and supply facilities do not yet have stockpiling tanks and only have class
II25 supplies, namely the chief of police warehouse and class IV, namely the weapons
warehouse; 3) The strategy for overcoming these obstacles is to improve quality by
modernizing technology; preparing Lantamal's strength, increasing the quantity aspect by
increasing the number of Alutsista, increasing the operational budget, operational patterns
and international cooperation; 4) Efforts to support the implementation strategy are increasing
resources, collaboration and coordination in making detailed fleet reduction plans, increasing
personnel capabilities, using advanced technology and systems, as well as increasing public
awareness, evalauting and improving policies.
