The escalating tensions between Hamas and Israel in early 2024 reached a new dimension with the involvement of the Houthi group from Yemen. In an effort to support the Palestinian cause, the Houthis launched attacks on Israel-bound ships in the Red Sea, forcing the United States and its allies to form a maritime coalition to protect international shipping lanes. This paper analyzes the Houthis' political motivations, the factors contributing to the success of their military operations, and the strategic impact they have caused. Furthermore, the lessons that can be learned by the Indonesian Navy in responding to the dynamics of maritime threats are comprehensively discussed. This case study highlights the importance of strengthening coastal defense and adopting drone technology to enhance Indonesia's maritime deterrence capabilities in the face of the complexities of threats in the era of globalization.
