Kebijakan Kelautan Menghadapi Illegal Fishing Di Perairan Indonesia Dan Perkuatan TNI Angkatan Laut Dalam Menghadapinya
Keywords:
Illegal fishing, Strengthening the Indonesian NavyAbstract
The problem of illegal fishing has a major impact on various things, ranging from marine ecosystems, micro and macro economies, to national security and sovereignty. The government has firmly stated through Law Number 45 of 2009 concerning Fisheries that this
is a form of violation and that criminal sanctions will accompany this activity. The Indonesian Navy, which is entrusted with the mandate of law enforcement in the waters, has an obligation to prevent and prosecute perpetrators of illegal fishing. Through qualitative research, researchers conducted an in-depth study of marine policies in dealing with illegal fishing that is still rampant in Indonesian waters and the strengthening of the Indonesian Navy in dealing with it. The conclusion obtained from this study is that increasing maritime surveillance capacity, modernizing defense equipment, strengthening international cooperation, strict law
enforcement, and empowering coastal communities are comprehensive steps that need to be taken by the Indonesian Navy in eradicating illegal fishing practices in Indonesian waters.
