Indonesia's membership as a full member of BRICS+ on January 6, 2025 is expected to have a significant impact on strengthening the country's maritime defense. This article examines the strategic benefits of membership, including diversification of defense equipment sources, increased bargaining position in procurement negotiations, and access to advanced technology from member countries. By establishing closer cooperation with countries such as Russia, China, India, and United Arab Emirates, Indonesia has the potential to reduce dependence on Western countries and increase independence in defense equipment production. In addition, this membership also strengthens Indonesia's position in regional maritime security issues and provides access to wider markets and foreign investment. The results of the study indicate that BRICS+ membership can be a strategic step that can strengthen maritime defense and improve Indonesia's position in the global arena.
